Islanders Insight's picture

The New York Islanders have made yet another impact move acquiring veteran defenseman Dan Boyle from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. Another day, another rumor. Wait, that’s not how the line is supposed to go….Yesterday, Islanders country was rocked with what another set of ‘source’ detail revealed about the ongoing sale talks of the New York hockey team from Charles Wang to Andrew Barroway.

B.D Gallof, via Twitter, made the revelation about noon EST when he claimed his sources have told him that Barroway has promised the potential investors he has lined up the team will remain at or close to the cap floor, at least initially, to maximize return on their investment.

New York Islanders – A Franchise For Sale?

Your business investment has not done well in total valuation or on year to year profit and loss statements due to a horrendous lease deal with your home arena. A Philadelphia lawyer desperate to get into the sports ownership business comes along and offers you more than the franchise is valued, giving you a chance to recoup some losses and get out before it turns your hair completely gray.

Jack Capuano Isn’t Worst Case Scenario For New York Islanders

Islanders Insight's picture

Earlier this offseason,  the New York Islanders announced that embattled head coach Jack Capuano would be returning for yet another season as the head coach of the Islanders. JohnTavares_croppedOther than some budding sale “rumors” and the state of John Tavares not much has been happening around the Islanders recently.

There is some news regarding the potential selling of the team, as current candidate for the job of owner Andrew Barroway now has a set price to acquire the team. According to Chris Botta of Sports Business Journal, Wang is now looking for 400 million dollars for a majority stake of his team.

Barroway does not have that type of money yet, and he’ll need some investors to come up with that kind of money, which could take quite some time.

A Class Act: Are Our Expectations Of NHL Players Too High?

If there’s one thing NHL fans like to hang their hat on, it’s that their beloved players are “class acts.” And, in many cases, they are.

Andrew-L-Barroway

The man you see to your left is what Islanders fans are clamoring for. But before you get too excited, remember the two failed bids to own the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils.

Remember that he is still extremely short on capital and cash required to meet what is now being reported as close to 400mm in order to push Charles Wang out the door and own the New York Islanders.
