The New York Islanders took to the ice yesterday morning at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum as the 2014-15 season officially began at 9:12 a.m. ET.

As to be expected, there was not much to be learned from Day One, neither from the groupings nor from the intense, up-tempo practices that head coach Jack Capuano and his assistant, Greg Cronin ran.

Training camp is officially open.

Let the news, rumors, propaganda, lineup and trade suggestions, and overall hate towards Josh Bailey begin.

Yesterday, the Islanders took the ice with three groups skating in up-tempo practices that pushed rookies and veterans alike on their first day back.

It was a welcome sight to see hockey officially back on Long Island, but the Islanders don’t have much time to rest on their laurels and leisurely work their way back into game shape.

The New York Islanders are skating….on ice….TOGETHER! Oh, happy days.

Training camp is officially underway on Long Island, as the Islanders took the Nassau Coliseum ice for the first time since April. There are many familiar facesand a few unfamiliar onesbut all of them are taking part in the hottest competition at an Isles training camp in years.

Sit back and enjoy the return of Islanders hockey. In two weeks, the team will have its 23-man roster finalized for Opening Night; then the real fun begins.

What Nassau Coliseum Means To Me

Islanders Insight's picture

In July of 2015, the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum will exist no more. It will be torn down, renovated, refinished… however you look at it, the barn will never be the same again. My first time at Nassau Coliseum was when I was the ripe old age of 6. It was an Islanders game against […]
