Islanders head coach Doug Weight isn’t stressing over whether John Tavares will sign a contract extension this offseason. And if a new deal isn’t signed by July 1 then the Isles coach is suggesting not panicking either.

The Islanders did not ask Andrew Ladd or Johnny Boychuk to waive their no-movement clauses before Wednesday’s 5 p.m. deadline, according to Newsday’s Arthur Staple. Now both Ladd and Boychuk must be protected in the upcoming expansion draft.
