New York Rangers v Tampa Bay Lightning - Game Six

The Rangers dominated Game 6 in Tampa, beating the Lightning 7-3 in what became a blowout in the third period. The series is now tied at 3 games apiece, and a decisive Game 7 will be played on Friday in New York.

The Rangers yet again silenced their critics by scoring an abundance of goals in a lopsided game, just as they did in Game 4. The seven goals scored by New York are the most it has scored in a postseason game this year. Derick Brassard continued his excellence, scoring three goals, becoming the first Ranger to score a Game 6 hat trick in a must-win game since Mark Messier.

With the way things are going, it looks as if Brassard’s hat trick last night will affect this series just as Messier’s hat trick in ’94 did against the Devils. The Rangers, just like they did a little over twenty years ago, have taken all momentum in the Eastern Conference Finals after a huge Game 6 win. The odds are heavily in their favor now, and like the series in 1994, the Rangers are heading home to play Game 7 in front of their fans.

Things are looking good for Rangers fans right now. As much as it hurts Islanders fans to hear, this team has skill and momentum, and needs just one more win to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. Although the game obviously has not been played yet, the momentum is with the Rangers, and with their skill that will be amplified by confidence, it will be hard to stop this team come Friday.
