Islanders Insight’s Top Shelf: A Busy Week

New York Islanders v Florida Panthers

The New York Islanders take on a rare, busy four game work load this week where they have already manhandled the New Jersey Devils this past Sunday 4-0. The rest of the week shapes up with the Florida Panthers visiting Brooklyn on Tuesday, then the Islanders head out on a two game road trip to face the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday and the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday.

Though the week is a busy one, the Islanders could very well come out of this week with eight points, as this weeks match-ups are very much in favor of the Islanders. The Panthers are young and skilled team, but they are coming off a loss from the Boston Bruins and are without a key player in Nick Bjudstad. The Colorado Avalanche are just not the same team they were last season sitting at the bottom of the Central division. And the Arizona Coyotes are definitely exciting this season, but lack the goaltending they need to stay afloat in the Pacific division.

With the Islanders collecting points in the last ten games, coming off a solid performance against a surprisingly good team in the Devils, having the ability to roll with two goaltenders who will get the job done, John Tavares finally getting back on the board, and the blue line once again bringing offense; another eight points by the end of this week does not seem far-fetched. Not to mention a possible 10 points, when the Islanders face the not-so-hot Anaheim Ducks before the Christmas break.
