Anthony Beauvillier’s play has been the biggest surprise for the Islanders through this very young season. How much longer will it last, though?

The Islanders have to make an important decision on the 2015 first-round pick very soon. After Tuesday’s game—assuming Beauvillier is back in the lineup—Beauvillier will have appeared in his ninth career NHL game. There are two options for the Islanders’ brass; send him back to major juniors in the QMJHL and he doesn’t burn a year off his entry-level contract, or he continues playing in the NHL and he’ll officially start his NHL deal, contractually.

Beauvillier has one goal and four assists through eight games thus far.
