NHL: New York Islanders at San Jose Sharks

Islanders fans will see a familiar face on the ice tonight when the Islanders meet the Florida Panthers. Ryan Strome has returned to the team after a three-week demotion to Bridgeport.

Strome was demoted after he was one of several players to get off to a slow start to the season, tallying only one goal and four assists in his first twelve games of the season. The Islanders had hoped he would slot into the top line next to his roommate John Tavares at the beginning of the season.

Brock Nelson has been riding a nice wave of productivity next to JT in Strome’s absence. Nelson has five goals and three assists over the last eight games.

Strome skated in Steve Bernier’s spot at practice yesterday and there’s a chance he will be featured on the third line tonight next to Nikolay Kulemin and Mikhail Grabovski since that line has only produced two goals in eight games since his demotion.

The Islanders hope Stromer can contribute on the score sheet tonight and contribute to a second consecutive victory against an Eastern Conference opponent. The Islanders are coming off a 3-1 victory against the Flyers on Wednesday night.
