Jaromir Jagr fights off Anders Lee

With an assist against one of his former teams, the Boston Bruins, last night, Jaromir Jagr officially surpassed Gordie Howe for third place on the All-Time NHL Scoring list with 1,851. Jagr has done a lot of damage over his 20+ year career, hitting the 100 point mark five times, four during the “Dead Puck Era” of the late 1990s and early 2000s. His award shelf is filled with hardware and two Stanley Cup rings from his time with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

So what does Jaromir Jagr’s achievement making it to number three on the All-Time NHL Scoring list, and challenging for the second spot, have to do with the New York Islanders? He’s scored the most points against the Islanders than any NHL franchise during his career, granted he’s played more games against the than any other franchise. Jagr has also spent a majority of his career in the Patrick turned Atlantic turned Metropolitan Division, playing the Islanders 108 times. Finally, despite playing only 13 more games against the Islanders than the Flyers, he scored an astonishing 36 more points.

Most Points vs. One Franchise by Jaromir Jagr
NYI – 61-93-154 (108 GP)
PHI – 47-71-118 (95 GP)
CAR – 38-78-116 (85 GP)
BUF – 46-58-104 (87 GP)
BOS – 33-66-99 (79 GP)

While we usually don’t celebrate players who score against the Islanders, we figure that this is probably a good time to make an exception. Congratulations, Jaromir.
